چکیده

dHACM: dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane INTRODUCTION Mohs surgery and repair of lower eyelid surgical defects present unique reconstruction challenges because of risk for ectropion. There are several options to avoid this adverse outcome, but when a patient declines surgical repair, there are no alternatives aside from second-intention healing with or without adjunctive therapy. One promising method is use of dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane (dHACM) allograft (EpiFix , MiMedx Group Inc, Marietta, GA). To address the issue of a paucity of nonsurgical repair options, the author presents 3 cases of relatively superficial lower eyelid defects after Mohs micrographic surgery that were successfully repaired using dHACM.

A Novel Purse-String Suture and Dehydrated Human Amnion/Chorion Membrane Allograft Closure Technique for the Repair of Defects Following Mohs Micrographic and Excisional Surgery

Four elderly patients with multiple comorbidities, polypharmacy, and social issues requested surgical management of sizeable, symptomatic skin cancers: basal cell carcinomas (BCC), squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and melanoma. All patients desired closure methods that would avoid extensive reconstruction and minimize wound care responsibilities. In this retrospective case series, we investigated...

Amniotic membrane is a potential regenerative option for chronic non-healing wounds: a report of five cases receiving dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane allograft.

A case series of five patients with a total of six chronic non-healing wounds (>30 day duration) were non-randomly selected to evaluate the performance, safety and handling properties of dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane allograft, an amniotic membrane scaffolding product. The patients had lower extremity wounds that had previously failed standard of care within a university outpatient/i...

Endoscopic use of EpiFix—dehydrated Human Amnion/Chorion Membrane (dHACM) allograft in patients with Gastric Leak following Sleeve Gastrectomy

Leak following laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is one of the most feared complications and its management can be difficult and frustrating for patients and physicians involved. Using multimodality approach and having variable options to plan management for patients presenting with leak following bariatric surgery can be advantageous for physicians. The use of endoscopic injection of EpiFix-dehy...

A multicenter, randomized, controlled clinical trial evaluating the use of dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane allografts and multilayer compression therapy vs. multilayer compression therapy alone in the treatment of venous leg ulcers.

Venous leg ulcers produce significant clinical and economic burdens on society and often require advanced wound therapy. The purpose of this multicenter, randomized, controlled study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of one or two applications of dehydrated human amnion/chorion membrane allograft and multilayer compression therapy vs. multilayer compression therapy alone in the treatment o...
